Further info
Each sweater is knitted on demand using only the highest quality wool from Iceland. We use Álafoss wool for our Icelandic sweaters which is rooted in tradition and quality. Sourced directly from Iceland, Álafoss wool is renowned for its unparalleled warmth, durability, and water-resistant properties. This wool originates from Icelandic sheep, animals that have thrived in Iceland's challenging climate, resulting in a fiber that is both incredibly insulating and lightweight. Unlike other wool, Álafoss wool offers a unique combination of a soft inner layer and a weather-resistant outer layer, making our sweaters perfect for any adventure. Embrace the Icelandic Explorer experience with the unmatched comfort and warmth.

Handknitted by Jóhanna in the Icelandic Westfjords
The Icelandic Explorer Sweaters are knitted by Jóhanna Gunnarsdóttir who is based in a small town called Þingeyri in the Westfjords. She has over 50 years of experience knitting and started knitting when she was 10 years old. She has been a professional knitter for the past 20 years.
If you think the price is high
Please note that we are using one of the most expensive types of wool and that knitting a sweater is labor intensive, even for an experienced knitter. When buying the Icelandic Explorer sweater, you are also supporting a small local business on the countryside of Iceland. The goal is to have different products and knitters from around Iceland working on this project, thereby contribute to creating a more vibrand community in remote places such as the Westfjords.
Shipping
All sweaters are shipped from Iceland with the Icelandic Postal Service. All packages are sent as international parcels. Flat Rate of USD 30.
