It’s been quiet but I’m still here
Not just have I been quiet here on the blog but also on Instagram. In fact, it’s been the longest time I’ve been quiet since I started on Instagram. Unfortunately, it’s because of a very challenging situation.
The Year of Corona: Iceland without Tourists
With around 2 million tourists coming to Iceland in 2019, the tourism sector had become the largest in the country. However, in recent years, the industry had already been on a decline, from having grown almost exponentially since the financial crisis. With this trend already in place, the Covid Crisis has hit the industry especially hard, leaving many cities almost completely empty.
Visiting Iceland in Winter
Even though it isn’t safe nor realistic to travel at the moment, I feel like the desire to travel – and plotting epic adventures – is what gets many of us through this dark-pandemic winter. And even though it won’t be possible for most of you guys this current winter, I wanted to talk a little bit about why it’s so epic to visit Iceland in the winter-time!
Wrapping Up 2020
On a personal level, this year has led to a lot of change in my life. Essentially, I have undergone a decade of life-changing events in just one year.
